In the summer, Yellowstone National Park entrances open on variable dates when snow crews are able to clear the roads, usually in mid-April. The season runs from mid-April to late-October. Once an entrance or road opens, it is open 24 hours. The only exceptions are caused by road construction and weather-caused restrictions.

Although most visitors use private vehicles to get around inside Yellowstone National Park, scenic bus tours are available during the summer season. We recommend taking a bus tour on one of the first days you visit to orient you and help you decide which area you'd like to explore in depth during your stay.
